Go mobile with Live Mail/Hotmail

If your phone's with you, so is your email. With Hotmail on your mobile phone, you can take your email, contacts, calendar, and photos with you wherever you go. Set up Hotmail on your Windows Phone, iPhone, Android, or other mobile phone.

Get Live Mail/Hotmail on your BlackBerry phone

These steps should work for most BlackBerry phones.

Tap Email setup or Email settings from your phone's home screen. Or, select Setup wizard, which will open the email setup screen.
Select Create or add an email address. You'll be prompted to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
On the Email setup screen, select Hotmail. (On some BlackBerry phones, you'll go directly to the Hotmail address and password fields.)
Enter your full Hotmail address and password, and then tap Next.
If the steps are successful, you'll get an account setup confirmation message.
Click Close or OK to exit email setup.

Depending on the type of phone you have, the steps might vary to get Hotmail on your phone. You can always access Hotmail through your phone’s browser at www.hotmail.com. You can also go to the BlackBerry website to see instructions for your BlackBerry phone.

Get the Live Mail/Hotmail app on your Android

The Hotmail app for Android is free. To get it, search for Hotmail in Google Play from your phone (choose the app by Microsoft+SEVEN).*

Get your email the instant it comes in.
All of your folders and subfolders are browsable.
Have more than one Hotmail account? Get them all in the one app.
Send photos via email from your phone to your friends.
Send, receive, and view attachments on your phone.
Calendar and contacts are synced to your phone.

Get Live Mail/Hotmail on your Nokia Symbian phone

The steps to get Hotmail on your phone will vary depending on which Nokia phone you have.

If you have a Nokia C6-00, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7-00, Nokia E7-00, or Nokia N8-00, follow these steps:

Select E-mail set up on your home screen.
Select Start e-mail set up.
Select Yes if Allow application to use network to send and receive data? appears.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
A list of email service providers appears. Select the one you want to use, or, if it isn’t there, select Other.
Enter your full Hotmail address and password. The phone will automatically load your email settings.
Once you’ve set up your email, you don’t have to re-enter your email address and password when you want to use it. All you have to do is select your account.

If you have a Nokia S40, follow these steps:

Select Mail on your home screen.
Select Get the latest services.
Select Your internet connection.
Read the service terms and privacy policy and select I agree.
A list of email service providers appears on your home screen. Select the one you want to use, or, if it isn’t there, select Other.
Enter your full Hotmail address and password and select Sign in. The phone will automatically load your email settings.

Get Live Mail/Hotmail on your iPhone

Setting up Hotmail on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is easy and free.

Get your email the instant it comes in—notifications let you know when you have a new message.
Calendar and contacts are synced to your phone.
All of your Hotmail folders and subfolders are browsable.
Send photos via email from your phone to your friends.

Setting up Hotmail is easy when using an iPhone with iOS 5. (If you don’t have iOS 5 yet, you can get it by connecting your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to your PC—just follow the instructions in iTunes.)

iOS 5

Tap Settings, then tap Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
Tap Add Account in the Accounts page.
Tap Hotmail.

Tap Hotmail to add your Hotmail account to your iPhone.
Enter your full Hotmail email address and password. In the Description field, enter a name so you can identify this account when you check your email (for example, “Hotmail”).

Enter your Hotmail address and password to your iPhone.
Select the fields that you want to sync (they should say ON if you want them to sync). Tap Save.

Choose what you'd like to sync to your iPhone.

If you don’t have iOS 5, it’s easy to get it on your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Connect your device to your PC and follow the instructions in iTunes. If you don’t want to or can’t install iOS 5, it's still easy to get Hotmail on your iPhone.

Non-iOS 5

Tap Settings, then tap Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
Tap Add Account in the Accounts page.
Tap Microsoft Exchange.
Enter your name, your Hotmail address, and your Hotmail password. Leave Domain blank.
Enter a description and then tap Next.
If the previous steps succeeded, you’ll see a page listing Mail, Contacts, and Calendar with options to turn these on or off. Select the fields that you want to sync (they should say ON if you want them to sync). Tap Save.

Get Live Mail/Hotmail on your Windows Phone

Setting up Hotmail on your Windows Phone is easy and free.* When you sync Hotmail to your phone, you can:

Manage your inbox, including reading, deleting, composing, and replying to email messages.
Access your Hotmail folders, contacts, and calendar.
Send photos and videos.
Get notified when you have new messages.

When you first set up your Windows Phone, you're asked to sign in with your Windows Live ID (that’s the same as your Hotmail address). If you didn't sign in then―or if you have more than one Windows Live ID—follow these steps:

On Start, flick left to the App list, tap Settings, and then tap Email & accounts.
Tap Add an account, and then tap Windows Live.
If you didn’t sign in with a Windows Live ID during setup, the Before you sign in screen appears. On this screen, tap Next.
Tap the Windows Live ID box, and then type your Windows Live ID.
Tap the Password box, and then type your Windows Live password.
Tap Sign in.
